Welcome to my Photo a Day on the Daily photo community. I did a project 365 on Facebook last year, but I'm looking for more CC from other photographers, and I enjoy seeing other's work and learning their techniques. I'm pretty passionate about photography and I love to share ideas and technical stuff! I've been a Canon user for over 30 years. At the moment I'm using a 5d Mark ii and a 50d, with L lenses, and I process on an iMac. I am also a major software junkie! Comments and Constructive Critiques always welcome!

DreamCatcherPhotography > 2/5/2013 ~ Jackson Square, New Orleans
It's getting late and as the artists pack it up for the day, a guy in a pink flamingo suit gets ready to head for home.

Thank you all for the nice comments on yesterday's Ferry shot! I appreciate the kind words!!
DreamCatcherPhotography > 2/4/2013 Pigeons land as a ferry passes by
Galveston, Texas

Thanks for the nice comments on my Freighter photo yesterday. This shot is from the same area around the Galveston Harbor. The city runs a free ferry from Galveston to Boliver Point on the mainland across Galveston Bay. it's fun to ride the ferry, feed the seagulls and watch the sunset. However in the summer, the lines can be hours long.

A big freighter leaves Houston via Galveston with a couple of pelicans as escorts.

Thanks for all the comments on my Black Bear Pass photo yesterday. Anyone who's interested, they do have guided tours that go down the trail. You don't have to be Jeeper to join the fun :)
DreamCatcherPhotography > 2/2/2013 Telluride's Bridal Veil Falls and Power Plant House
viewed from The Steps of Black Bear Pass trail.

I love this view, because I love mountains more than anything. But I'm not content to just look at them, I prefer to be on them. This is the infamous Black Bear Pass, overlooking Telluride, Colorado. It's a Jeep trail, one of the most dangerous in the state. My husband and I go to Colorado every summer and run these trails in our Jeep. The air is thin, but the view is amazing. Definitely not for those fearful of heights! But if you love adventure, this is a good one.

Thanks for the nice comments on my Drunken Photoshop shot yesterday!

DreamCatcherPhotography > 2/1/2013 "Friends don't let friends Photoshop drunk"

Well, not really, but it seemed like a good title! This is a shot of a New Orleans carriage from last August.
I could never get it to look right, because the exposure was so off. I thought if I tried something really crazy, it might be able to salvage it.
It might not be everyone's taste, but I think hung in a brightly decorated room it might look kind of interesting. Happy February 1st!

Thanks for all the nice comments on my Texas Capitol shot!
DreamCatcherPhotography > 1/31/2013 ~ Goodbye January!

The Texas Capitol Dome. Texans are smugly proud of the fact that our Capitol dome is 20' taller than the US Capitol dome!!

Thanks for all the compliments on my Lodge photo yesterday!

Thanks so much for the wonderful response to my Fountain shot yesterday. I'll have to go by one evening and see if it's illuminated and get some night shots.
DreamCatcherPhotography > 1/29/2013 ~ Fountain Dance
Thanks for the wonderful comments on my Insulator and Spiderweb shot yesterday! This fountain is in a retention pond in a new subdivision nearby. It has a nice glow in the morning sun. I used a 6 stop ND to blur the water. Then in Aperture I raised the contrast and black point. Finally in Topaz Adjust I added a 'Black Rose' filter to give it even more darkness in the background.
DreamCatcherPhotography > 1/28/2013 ~ Antique Insulator and Tiny Spider Web

Thank you all for the kind response to my Abandoned Bedroom photo yesterday. My friends farm is a fascinating place, and also a working farm. They have cattle, sheep, chickens and donkeys. This photo is an antique electric fence insulator with the tiniest spider web attached to it. I didn't see the spider anywhere.
DreamCatcherPhotography > 1/27/2013 ~Bedroom of an Abandoned Farm House

Thank you all so much for the wonderful response to my Ovid Church photo yesterday. It is indeed a treasure, and I'm honored that so many of you enjoyed seeing it.

Yesterday a friend took me to her grandparents farm, where the original 1920's farm house still stands. The house was occupied until about 30 years ago, and much of the contents of the house are still inside, albeit in a state of disarray and abandonment. This is the view of the bedroom, where the bed has been made to look as though it has a body laying in it, in hopes of scaring the bejeebers out of would-be vandals. I took enough photos at the farm to keep me occupied for several weeks, lol.
DreamCatcherPhotography > 1/26/2013 ~ Old Abandoned Church

This shot is from July 2011. I had found this neat old church in Ovid, Idaho a decade prior, (back in the film days) and wanted another chance at it in digital. I've always been good at finding my way around, and sure enough even after 10 plus years I knew where it was. Only problem was, when we arrived mid afternoon the light was horrible. My sweet hubby got a us a hotel in town and brought me back the next morning to get it in the golden hour.

Thank you for the lovely comments on yesterday's St Louis Cathedral shot!
DreamCatcherPhotography > 1/25/2013 ~ Inside St. Louis Cathedral. New Orleans, LA
As I processed this image I was having a very difficult time keeping all the lines straight. If I'd get the verticals straight, the horizontals would be off. I was going crazy until I realized that the cathedral, built in 1794 was not plumb itself. So I made the most prominent horizontal line.. the alter.. straight, and let everything else fall as it may.

This is a three frame hand held HDR.
DreamCatcherPhotography > 1/24/2013 ~ Lower Antelope Canyon
On the Navajo Tribal Lands, Page AZ

Antelope Canyon is located on the Navajo reservation, near Page Arizona. Anyone making a trip to the N Rim of Grand Canyon might want to take a side trip to explore this lovely slot canyon. You must hire a Navajo guide, but the tours are not expensive and the guides are very knowledgeable. It is a lovely sight.

Thank you for the wonderful comments on yesterday's OK City Memorial shot!
DreamCatcherPhotography > 1/23/2013 ~ We Remember

The Oklahoma City National Memorial
The Remembrance Fence

If you've never been to the Memorial and plan to go, make sure you bring your kleenex. It's an incredibly moving, incredibly beautiful tribute to a senseless act of violence that never should have happened. This is the portion of the fence that originally stood around the ruins, where people left and still leave remembrances to the victims. Over the years, tens of thousands have been left and are now housed in a museum next door.

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments on yesterday's Rusty photo!

Fanthorp Inn State Park, Anderson, Texas.

About this photo: Taken with the 5d Mark ii, it was the first time I had ever used such a high ISO (6400) I was very impressed with the results! I used NO noise reduction on this shot, and it is also about 100% crop. Even more amazing, it's hand held it at 1/13 sec. Can't say enough good things about the 5d2 and the 24-105 IS L !!
